WHAT IS BOTOX® COSMETIC?
BOTOX® Cosmetic was originally developed as a treatment for crossed eyes and eye spasms. However, researchers realized that, in addition to its health benefits, BOTOX® Cosmetic offers significant cosmetic improvement of lines and wrinkles.
BOTOX® Cosmetic contains tiny amounts of botulinum toxin. When injected just under your skin, this neurotoxin blocks nerve impulses and relaxes the muscle in the treatment area, minimizing the appearance of wrinkles.

BOTOX® COSMETIC TREATMENT
Before your treatment, you will have a complete consultation with Dr. Libunao or Dr. Kim. You have 43 different muscles in your face, and your practitioner must carefully plan out your treatment to achieve optimal results. Both of our doctors are highly experienced with BOTOX® Cosmetic, and they will create an effective treatment plan to meet your individual needs.
The BOTOX® treatment process typically takes about 15 minutes. If you are particularly nervous about the injections, you can come into our office early so a local anesthetic can be applied to the treatment area and allowed to take effect. Once you are ready, the appropriate amount of BOTOX® Cosmetic will be strategically injected to produce a rejuvenated, natural appearance. Following treatment, you can immediately resume your normal routine, though you may elect to return home for the rest of the day to allow time for any side effects to fade.
BENEFITS AND RISKS OF BOTOX® TREATMENT
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a low-risk treatment, and long-term side effects are rare. Immediately after your treatment, you may experience some temporary symptoms, such as redness, bruising, or sensitivity in the treatment area. Any side effects will typically fade quickly, within a few hours to a few days.
BOTOX® Cosmetic usually takes full effect three to four days after the injections are administered. At this time, you may notice that your facial lines and wrinkles fade significantly, giving you a much younger appearance. BOTOX® results can last for three to four months. With the approval of your doctor, it is safe to undergo routine touch-up treatments.
